Jack Gordon, CPA – Senior Accountant
Jack Gordon has over forty years experience in financial accounting, income taxes, and forensic accounting. At Engelman Accountancy, he works primarily as a forensic accountant, in the investigation and valuation of property matters.
Prior to joining Engelman Accountancy Corporation, Mr. Gordon was a partner in an accounting firm which specialized in personal and business income taxes and related accounting services. Mr. Gordon previously operated his own accounting practice in San Jose, California.
He has prepared valuations for a variety of small businesses and professional practices and has served as a comptroller for a chain of retail stores, a real estate management company, and a specialty contracting firm.
A native of Ohio, Jack is one of seven boys and five sisters. His family moved to California in his early teens where he attended high school and worked for the railroad. After serving as an infantryman in Korea, he completed his education to become a CPA. He is an avid sports fan, particularly baseball, and most particularly, the Cincinnati Reds. Off season, he likes gardening and other outdoor activities.

Jeffrey L. Savitz, EA – Tax Consultant
Jeff Savitz is a tax accountant who was a Revenue Agent (auditor) with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for thirty-two years. His IRS career involved auditing tax returns of individuals, partnerships, and multinational corporations. He taught numerous classes for the Internal Revenue Service for both new and experienced revenue agents.
Mr. Savitz brings his in depth understanding of IRS processes, procedures and administrative functioning to our clients’ individual tax issues. He is an Enrolled Agent. An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a tax professional, licensed and authorized by the Federal Government, to represent and to practice before the IRS, and the California Franchise Tax Board as to preparation, audit, collection, and appeal matters.
Jeff is a native of Chicago, but moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1972 with his wife and two children. To date, he has three grandchildren. An avid baseball fan, Jeff is devoted to the Chicago Cubs. When not watching his “beloved” Cubs, his interest turns to model railroading and photography.

Nathalie Cheng, CPA – Accountant
Nathalie joined Engelman Accountancy in 2003. In early 2007, she received her Certified Public Accountant license and is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics with Emphasis in Accounting from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Her prior employers include Novogradac and Company, LLP and PG&E Corporation.
A second generation Chinese American, Nathalie was born and raised in San Francisco along with her two younger siblings. Both her parents emigrated from Hong Kong as teenagers. Her hobbies include hiking, shopping, river rafting, and trying new cuisines with friends.
Efraim Michael, EA –Tax Consultant
Efraim brings a broad range of experience to the firm. As an Enrolled Agent (EA), he has experience in tax accounting for individuals, partnerships, estate planning and trust matters. An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a tax professional, licensed and authorized by the Federal Government, to represent and to practice before the IRS, and the California Franchise Tax Board as to preparation, audit, collection, and appeal matters.
Prior to his accounting experience, Efraim was a real estate broker for a short period of time and spent many years in technical management positions in the semiconductor industry.
Efraim has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 35 years, is married, and has three children. He has a great passion for skiing and makes short trips to Lake Tahoe whenever possible.
Stephen Aker – Senior Consultant
Stephen Aker joined Engelman Accountancy after twenty-eight years of financial experience with corporations of varying sizes.
As the Controller for two early-stage Internet companies, he:
- Developed the financial controls, planning, and operations
- Executed due diligence for venture capital funding rounds and the sale of one of the companies
- Directed or performed accounting and financial operations and supplied financial perspective and analysis of the business plan.
In prior positions, Steve:
- Was responsible for collections, payment processing, tax, budget, financial analysis, internal audit, cost accounting, product line profit and loss reporting, cost accounting, external audit, and banking relationships.
- Participated in policy setting and monitoring of an investment portfolio ($1.5 billion), accounting for the discontinuance of a major product line, and the post-purchase merger of accounting and financial operations.
Steve is a native Californian who was raised in Marin County. He has two grown children, two grandchildren, and an addiction to Macintosh computers. He also enjoys Excel and Access programming and wine tasting.
