New law repeals expanded 1099 reporting rules

On April 14, 2011, President Obama signed legislation – the Comprehensive 1099 Taxpayer Protection and Replacement of Exchange Subsidy Overpayments Act of 2011 – repealing expanded reporting rules for businesses and landlords that had been created by laws passed in 2010.

Check the new rules for 2011 tax planning opportunities

Sunset was postponed last December, at least in the world of taxes. Many existing laws, which had been due to expire, or “sunset” at the end of 2010, were extended through 2012. At the same time, new rules that can impact your tax planning came into effect. New law delays return filing

New law extends Bush-era tax rates for two years

After weeks of wrangling over the details, both the Senate and the House passed a bill that will extend the tax rates in effect in 2010 for another two years, through December 31, 2012. President Obama signed the 2010 Tax Relief Act into law on December 17, 2010. Here’s an overview of the key provisions in the law.
